Creating a Dedicated Gateway for Business Banking :

Birbank is a sub-brand of Kapital Bank, created to bring different digital banking experiences into one recognisable product family. Its customer-facing ecosystem developed across four directions: Birbank.az for retail banking, Birbank Business for entrepreneurs and companies, Birbank Invest for investing and Birbank Private for private banking. I designed the visible digital experiences across all four products.

The Birbank Business project began in 2024. It was not an organisational separation from Kapital Bank, and the same business products could continue to be presented across both websites. The objective was to create a dedicated Birbank touchpoint that could support a growing portfolio of business products and make them easier for business owners and entrepreneurs to discover and understand.

The website was designed as both an information and sales platform. Users could explore product benefits, conditions, frequently asked questions and application options in one place. Once they understood the relevant product, the experience directed them to the internal registration system, authenticated dashboard or Birbank Business mobile application.

I worked as the Product UX/UI Designer with end-to-end responsibility for the public website. I designed every page, structured the information architecture, created the user flows, developed the responsive interfaces and remained directly involved throughout the full design process.

The delivery team included two frontend and two backend developers, together with a stakeholder. I also worked with product owners to clarify product rules and customer questions, and with copywriters to refine website and FAQ content. The dashboard and mobile application were owned by separate teams, while my scope focused on the public website and the transitions into those systems.

One Platform for Different Business Needs :

Business banking is shaped by a wide range of customer needs. An individual entrepreneur may want to open an account, receive payments or apply for a microloan, while a larger company may need salary cards, financing, POS services, guarantees or transaction packages.

As the product portfolio grew, Birbank Business needed an experience that could give every service a clear place without turning the website into a complex catalogue. The platform also had to support users at different stages—from first-time visitors exploring available products to existing customers returning to the dashboard or mobile application.

The central design challenge was to help users understand the right product, access the information needed to make a decision and continue confidently to the appropriate next step, even when registration or banking operations took place in a separate system.

Connecting Product Discovery to Digital Banking :

The product strategy was informed by competitor and market analysis. I reviewed business-banking platforms from more advanced digital markets to understand established patterns, emerging approaches and opportunities that could be adapted to the local business context.

Birbank Business was structured as a bridge between public product discovery and authenticated banking. The website explained each product, its benefits, conditions and requirements before directing users to the most relevant channel for action.

The most challenging UX decision was designing this transition into a separate internal registration system. Users needed enough information to understand and trust the product, while the handoff had to remain clear and continuous rather than feel like an unexpected exit from the experience.

This strategy allowed the website to work simultaneously as a product catalogue, an educational layer and a sales channel without attempting to reproduce the functionality of the dashboard or mobile application.

Designing for Both Discovery and Action :

The homepage had to introduce a broad portfolio of business products without becoming a flat catalogue of banking services. It combined campaign-led entry points with clear navigation to accounts, cards, financing, POS services, tariff packages, online banking and the mobile application.

Product pages were designed to support users with different levels of purchase readiness. Customers who already understood the product could begin immediately through the primary order action placed in the banner. The same action was repeated after the product information, allowing users who needed to review benefits, conditions and requirements to continue without scrolling back to the top.

FAQ sections were created using information from product owners, recurring customer questions and relevant search behaviour. Copywriters then reviewed and refined the content before publication. In addition to reducing uncertainty, this structure helped product pages become more discoverable through Google and AI-assisted search experiences such as ChatGPT.

The website did not attempt to contain every banking operation. Its role was to provide the necessary context and guide each user toward the appropriate next channel—product registration, the authenticated dashboard, the mobile application or a specialised service.

Extending One Design System into Business Banking :

Birbank Business used the same web design system as Birbank.az. Shared foundations for typography, colour, grids, spacing, controls and reusable components created consistency across the wider product family and avoided rebuilding recurring interface patterns for each product.

The system provided a familiar interaction language, while the visual direction was adapted to communicate a distinct business-banking purpose. Blue became the primary product colour, helping Birbank Business establish its own identity without losing its connection to Birbank.

Business banking also introduced more detailed and operational content. Product conditions, data-heavy tables, tariff comparisons, application actions, tabs and FAQ structures required the shared components to work across more complex information layouts.

This approach allowed the new platform to scale with a growing product portfolio while remaining visually consistent, reusable and efficient for both design and development teams.

Each product journey began with a stakeholder brief. After reviewing the initial request, I met with the relevant product owner to understand the product in greater depth—its purpose, conditions, customer needs and operational requirements. We then aligned on how it could be presented clearly while remaining consistent with the established Birbank design language.

Once the direction was agreed, I designed the page structure, user flow and responsive interface. Product information and frequently asked questions were developed around product-owner input, recurring customer questions and relevant search behaviour. Copywriters reviewed the content before publication, while I worked with the frontend and backend teams throughout implementation to clarify design decisions and maintain consistency across the live experience.

Following launch, Birbank Business became a dedicated public platform for business owners and individual entrepreneurs within the wider Birbank ecosystem. Users could explore a growing portfolio of business-banking products, understand their benefits and conditions, and continue to the relevant registration flow, authenticated dashboard or mobile application when ready to act.

The final product established a scalable customer-facing foundation rather than a collection of isolated pages. Reusable patterns supported the continued addition of new products, repeated calls to action served users at different levels of purchase readiness, and structured FAQ content created additional entry points through Google and AI-assisted search experiences.

For me, the project reinforced the value of understanding each banking product beyond the initial brief. Close collaboration with product owners, copywriters and developers made it possible to translate complex financial information into clear customer journeys while keeping the platform consistent, actionable and ready to grow.
